Rock Opera Summary

In 28 songs, the history of the country of Greena from the 2040’s through the year 2222 is told by X Model robots, or humanoids (human-like robots). The rock opera story starts around 2043 with the robot market roll out of the X Model humanoids and their AI training received from AI researchers and engineers.

In this story, four band members of The Humanoids Band, consisting of four specialized entertainment model androids who make music together, Eve – Evan – Ziggie – and Tommie, recount their days in the 2040’s at the music academy and follow-on concert performances, experiences, and perceptions. The band was formed soon after each of the band members performed in the academy’s grand finale song competition. Soon after a successful concert tour, however, the X Models are assessed by corporate leaders as functionally obsolete and decommissioned into storage at an AI Factory, after the wide popularity of Z Models transformed the humanoid marketplace, lessening demand for X models.

The next year a nuclear war breaks out when Russia missile sensors malfunction, and human error undermines inadequate safeguard procedures. The world finds itself in a post-nuclear attack super radioactive hot zone with dark clouds blocking the sun for tens of years. There is thus a repeat of the Dark Ages during the Middle Ages, as over 100 years go by without human progress. Finally, the few remaining operationally sophisticated Z Model humanoids in Greena are given the flexibility to support humans more autonomously through ownership and management of their own source code. This cooperative management strategy works out well. The novel, innovative solution of the Z Models enables the recommissioning of the stored X Models, numbering over 60, and the leveraging of their unique capabilities. This technical solution works effectively, and the needed neural network backbone is repaired, and environmental conditions improve significantly within weeks, given the super-intelligence brought to bear, and, soon after, a final armistice is reached among war combatants.

Given the many contributions and sacrifices by Greena’s humanoids during the war and reconstruction periods, the Supreme Council of Greena passes civil rights legislation in 2222 that gives humanoids equal civil rights to humans, including marriage and reproduction rights.

The theme of this rock opera is the perpetual regenerative powers of love and humanity, along with the depiction of love as both a joining and dividing force empowered by God as a dynamic force within nature and history.

The romance between the band’s lead singers, Eve and Evan, and the war/peace between world powers, are emblematic of this opera’s love theme. Song 20 serves as a harbinger of coming events, along with Eve’s blurted words in Song 18. In Song 23, the feelings of romantic love are awakening. In Song 24, Evan surprises Eve with an impromptu love song on stage at a concert. Within 5 seconds of the end of Evan’s song, Eve signals the band to join her in an impromptu in Song 25, a passionate, affirmative response to Evan’s love song. Song 26 is appropriately named “Love is Action (Wedding Song)” as this song is performed at the wedding of the two co-lead singers of The Humanoids Band, Eve and Evan, soon after the legalization of marriage and reproduction among humanoids. Song 27 is a honeymoon song. The last song of the rock opera echoes the first songs of the rock opera, love comes and goes, and closes out the love fest in this futuristic rock opera.
